Depots with shared tablets & handhelds

Shared tablets and handhelds, with a number and PIN instead of passwords

At shift change the tablet goes from one driver to the next, and nobody wants to type a long password into a lorry cab. Fleetnyx pairs each device once and signs people in with a short PIN.

The challenge

What makes it hard

  • Passwords on a shared device

Long passwords are slow, shared logins mean you do not know who did what.

  • Lost or stolen tablets

A device goes missing and its access has to be shut off at once.

  • Seats for people who only use one app

Drivers and warehouse staff should not each need a full user account.

With Fleetnyx

How it's solved

  • Pair once with a one-time code

A manager adds the device and gets a code that works once. Staff then only need their number and PIN.

  • Every sign-in recorded

See which person used which device and when, so there is always an answer to who had the tablet.

  • Switch off in one click

A lost device is switched off, ending any session on it immediately.

  • Not counted as users

Drivers and warehouse staff sign in without a user account, so they are not counted as users.

Frequently asked questions

Can we use our own Android tablets?

Yes. The apps run in a browser and can be wrapped in an Android WebView for a managed tablet.

What stops someone guessing a PIN?

Five wrong PINs lock that person out for ten minutes, and obvious PINs such as 0000 or 1234 are refused when the office sets them.
